Then, if the results of a new poll are anything to go by, it might be a good idea to avoid the countryside, with motorists voting it far more distracting than giant billboards of David Beckham in his underpants or even the famous Wonderbra series of advertisements.
The Zurich Connect-sponsored survey found that people thought Beckham was just slightly more distracting than roadside graffiti and nowhere near as interesting as shop window displays.
Two-thirds of male drivers named the opposite sex as the greatest distraction, while just 3% of women said their attention was easily grabbed by a handsome man.
A Zurich Connect Spokesman said: "Surprisingly, the Yorkshire Dales beat David Beckham's pants hands down as roadside eye candy.
"We can only conclude that drivers passing through stunning landscapes need to be especially vigilant if they want to avoid becoming part of the scenery."
The top 10 most distracting things on the roads were, from most to least: attractive women; Stonehenge (and other heritage sites); the Yorkshire Dales (and other scenic views); flocks of birds; the Angel of the North (and other art installations); Ferraris and other supercars; shop window displays; attractive men; the David Beckham advert for Armani; and roadside graffiti.
