£52 billion pound of jewellery inside UK homes
The latest research published by Halifax home insurance has found that the average household contains £1,986 worth of jewellery. This means that as a Nation, we have £52 billion sat in jewellery boxes across the country.
The insurer's findings also revealed that 34 million people wear a combined £8.6 billions' everyday.
A spokesman for the insurer said that people should have their jewellery valued at least every three years and that they shouldn't forget to tell their insurer the value of their collection - as well as ensure they are adequately protected for wear outside the home - as they could be under insured.
Milton Keynes turned out to be the place that had the most 'bling' with £3,186 worth in the average home.
