Million pound property sales up nearly 40% in 2007

New figures out today by Halifax show that sales of million pound houses increased by 36% in 2007 over the same period in 2006.

The report shows that 8,257 million pound homes were sold in 2007 which is a rise on the 6,057 sales in 2006. Nearly 80% of these homes were sold in London and the South East.

The survey also provided a 10 year comparison and found that there was a 13 fold increase in the number of million pound homes sold since 1997 which saw just 622 homes being purchased.
