More than 6 million car owners switch car insurance to beat premium rises

According to a new report by MoneyExpert, more than 6 million of the Nation's drivers switched car insurance policies in an effort to cut their motoring costs during the last six months.

Moneyexpert is warning that there are likely to be more premium cost rises of nearly 10% in the coming 12 months' due to rising claim levels.

The statistics from the company show that over 35,000 people* switched their car insurance every hour during the last half year.

In the gender stakes it appears that men are more likely to move to a better deal with 15% of male motorists switching in the last 6 months compared to 13% of women drivers.

* 6.432m switched in six months, divided by 6 months, divided by 30 days in a month = 35,733 people switching per day.
